| I was just wondering what are the keys to succeeding in your class?
I think the biggest key to success is to get all of the practice you can. That means review the in class work, do the homework, work the bonus exams and get lots of practice using the WebChemTutor on the course website. Most people who take the time to do all of the problems on the WebChemTutor wind up with an A in the course. Actually, most students don't get allot from the lecture. It's hard to pay attention that long and if you miss one point the rest of the lecture might be wasted on you. The lecture is important but it is only the starting point for understanding the chemistry. Where you really learn is by doing problems on your own. Do lots of problems! What makes my class different from the other sections is that I give you lots of resources---like the bonus exams and the WebChemTutor. But it is up to you to take advantage of these things. I have had students in the past who had limited ability but who had infinite determination. They succeeded because they were willing to try anything to succeed. They would do things like work all of the ChemTutor problems. Also each bonus exam has 10 different versions of the exam. They would work all 10 versions because they were determined to get an A. Students with that kind of attitude always succeed. Take no prisoners! That should be your attitude. One last thing. If the course isn't working for you get help right away. Don't wait. I am always willing to help out. Come talk to me if you have problems. |

| How do you know how many submissions you have made in webassign?
With the new version of WebAssign you can either submit the entire assignment or you can submit each question individually. To the right of each question there is a table that lists the headings pts and subs. The column pts tells you how many points you have received for correct answers. The column subs tells you the number of submissions made. If the assignment has 4 possible submissions then the number 4 will be listed before any submissions have been made. After the first submission the subs column will read 1/4 anfter the second submission 2/4 and so on. |
